♡ Some Of My Favorite Things ♡
Today I wanted to make a post to let you guys know a little bit more about me and some of my favorite things/hobbies :3. I've been pretty active in the anitwitter community for a little over a year now, and I know some of you guys have been following me for quite sometime now (thanks!!) and you've probably picked up things here and there about what I like or what type of person I am, but I just kinda wanted to make a post all about me and what I'm interested in and yeah! If you like any of the same things, plz don't be shy and tweet me/DM me and we can talk about it! Seriously, I would love to, and I always respond!
So as you may or may not know, I'm a senior in college (thank god!) and I'm getting ready to graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology! This year I've been conducting video game research and since it still in the process of being completed, I can't talk too much about what we're testing, but it's really cool and interesting and we have been contacted to be published in SCIENCE magazine for it and thats a pretty big deal! So its very cool. Videogame research is a very novel field and pays well, so if you think you may be interested in that (I know some a lot of my followers are still in high school or early in their college careers) you should definitely look into it!! It's been super fun and very fulfilling. Its like they say, "If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life!"
Once I graduate, I'm moving to Spain (in June) to be an Au Pair for this super amazing wonderful family who I click well with so much it makes me wanna cry how amazing it all is. I will be studying there in order to fill requirements for my dang visa (which, by the way, is one heck of a process! if you ever are applying for a visa, 1) it takes 3 months to process and 2) its taken me a month just to get everything together to even apply! ugh! almost over though ( ◡‿◡ ♡) ) in addition to working as an Au Pair by teaching this beautiful little 3 year old girl english!
Wow! Sry thats such a long background, but hey! now ya know more about me ;P
Onto whats featured in the picture up-top! So the first thing is collecting anime figmas/statues/nendoroids. It's quite the expensive hobby, so make sure you're patient with collecting or otherwise you'll go broke! I own the three that are pictured, as well as many others (I've posted them on twitter before so you may have seen them) and I love them so so much. I'm seriously gonna miss them so much while I'm in Spain *cries*. Speaking of missing things, the nest on my list is my xbox one! Now I KNOW, the whole debacle of the console wars and I don't wanna hear anything from PS4 owners. I love my xbox and idk what I'm going to do without all my videogames and the access to crunchyroll/hbo go/netflix it provides...sigh. Just a heads up, I'm moving in with this family in Spain so I have to pack lightly, so I can't be my dumb otaku self there. But! I will have my ipad/laptop with me, so I'll still be able to enjoy the third thing on my list which is my crunchyroll subscription. Now I only have the sub because of the fact I also buy figmas and such through crunchyroll and you get deals on them with your sub and what not, but I also enjoy the convenience of the website. You can also catch me on kissanime too because that website is equally as awesome and has a wider array of anime to watch.
The fourth thing on my list is a pitbull puppy and thats because I have a pit/lab mix puppy named Koda and hes so crazy and sweet and I love him to death because he seriously is like my son. The next thing is Studio Ghibli! Not only are the films fantastic and all hand drawn, the stories have been a part of my life since my childhood and each movie has great morals and lessons tied into them and they're just all around beautiful creations; s/o to Miyazaki for being the best out there! Also, fun fact! When I was a junior in high school, I got the SG emblem (the profile of totoro) on the middle of my upper back and its about the size of a post it note and its so perfect because either no one gets what it is, but when they DO its MAGICAL because they're so stoked about it and I end up gushing over Studio Ghibli movies with complete strangers for like 20 minutes and its the best. My top 3 that have come out of SG are 1) Spirited Away 2) Howls Moving Castle and 3) Whisper of the Heart!
The sixth thing are just cute plushies in general, but especially alpacasso. I'm waiting to order the blue one thats pictured because its out of stock currently because I rly want it to take with me when I move to Spain to keep a lil of my kawaii self with me but also to have someone keep me company at night as I start a new chapter in my life. Next up is a nintendo 3DS with the games Animal Crossing, ORAS, and Majoras Mask. Out of those three, Animal Crossing is my absolute favorite! Its such a cute little game and theres always things to do, and its great for anxiety because you can take the game at whatever pace you like and theres so many calming things you can do like gardening, fishing, ext. Its also great for anxiety because you can play it a lil bit each day since the time lapse in the game is the same as irl, so it gives you that sense of being productive even if its just a little bit in a game :) Up next is my phone and laptop, ya know, I practically live online so I love my lil gadgets.
Then theres traveling and the travel bag I RLY want, but from what I remember its kinda expensive so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it. As I've mentioned a million times already, I'm beginning the travel section of my life in just a couple months, cause once I move to Spain, I plan on traveling throughout Europe on the weekends and breaks to really broaden my horizons! I love learning new things, especially new things about different cultures, so I can't wait to take it all in.
Ah yes, the best part of all, my favorite foods. Who could go wrong with pizza, sushi, and a chipotle burrito? Imagine if I ate just those three things in one day, I would probably go into a comatose, but how lovely would it be? My favorite pizzas are green pepper pizza or hawaiian pizza. A lot of ppl talk down hawaiian pizza but like..HAVE YOU TRIED IT? Its like the perfect amount of sweetness of cheese and fruit and meat I feel like Ratatouille in that one scene where he eats a grape with cheese at the same time.
Last, AND CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, is my one and only bae, Kankei Ken. Yes, he is the main character in Tokyo Ghoul and yeah some ppl say the anime is over hyped, which maybe I can agree with to a point (but tbh if its not hyped to Attack on Titan level, is it even rly worth the notion of saying its overhyped?), but I'm totally in love with him and he's my favorite. It's funny because I actually completely hated him all season one because he was such a baby and annoying, but episode 12 changed me completely and now that Root A is airing right now, I can barely wait for every thursday to arrive. I just love his character development and how damaged and powerful he is, but hopefully he'll get it together soon enough. I've started to read the manga which I'm equally excited about because everyone says the manga is way better, especially when it comes to everyones favorite, Tsukiyama, so yeah! I'll probably post about it once I finish it since I read that the final manga chapter was released kinda recently so its now over, manga wise, so I can read it all the way through (correct me if I'm wrong). I rly want the hardcopies of the english version of the manga, but they're not going to be coming out for awhile which is sad because once they do come out, I'll be in Spain so I'm not rly sure what I'll do! Maybe I'll be able to get them online or something...wherever theres a will, theres a way!
So yeah! That was quite the read right? But now you know a lot about me! Like I said, if you see that we have any common interests, don't be shy and tweet me about it and we can gush over whatever it is that we both like ( ˘⌣˘)♡(˘⌣˘ )
Like always, thanks for reading! It makes me rly happy to see you guys favoriting this or retweeting it and it makes me fall even deeper in love with every one of you guys!!

Video game research sounds so interesting! In case you are looking for some anime to watch, I suggest checking out cowboy bebop, kyoukai no Kanata, the tatami galaxy, and paradise kiss (they're a few of my faves hehe). You seem like an extremely interesting person! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm also starting university in September to study Freshwater & Marine Biology, but I'm pretty nervous :c

Thank you so much!! I rly like your blog too! I read almost everything last night and I love all your tips ^.^ videogame research is so fun, you get to have ppl play cool videogames I play myself and run tests on them to see how playing videogames can affect someone irl, or not at all! It's super interesting and never boring for sure. I've seen kyoukai no kanata (sooo cute, ending was sad) and i started cowboy bebop awhile ago but I definitely need to pick it up again! ooo but I will check out paradise kiss as well :3
Deleteomg! but if you like anime, Ive watched a bunch and could recommend sooo many (if you look on http://myanimelist.net/profile/katconway thats my profile and under anime list it shows all the anime ive completed/am watching/plan to watch! So if you have a specific genre, lmk and I'll have a bunch to recommend ^.^
I read your post about starting uni, I'm sure uni is harder than college here in the states, but maybe in the biological sciences we'll be pretty equal? The one thing I can say is prepare to take a bunch of hard classes that are required that you may not even need towards what you want to do with your major (upper level bio courses focusing on human body, anatomy, ext) but do not fret!! If you love it, you will have no problem taking these classes. Also, if you find yourself having a knack for biology classes, that never hurts! My advice is to take everything slow and do all you assignments early!!! If I have free time, I will do assignments a week early just so I dont have to worry about them :) also, befriend people in class! If youre self conscious or feel as though you are not outgoing enough to do that, I'm telling you. everyone else feels the exact same way! They want to talk to you too, but theyre nervous! If you make friends with people in class, you can get help studying, as well as do studying sessions where you review things with them and teach things to them, and before you know it, you know all the info like the back of your hand! just study a little bit each day, and dont be shy in asking your professors for help and further explanations.
College/Uni is all about how much help youre willing to ask for, and the relationships you build with your classmates and professors! the only reason I got this amazing research opportunity is because I talked to my professor a lot whose running it when I had her for a class because I really liked her; so she was willing to let me do research with her even though I'm not in graduate school or anything, cause she knew I was a hard worker and would do what she needed, just based off really getting to know me!
so don't be shy, uni is all about starting a new you and really putting yourself out there! you will do just great, I believe in you! I know I wrote a lot, but I wanted to give you a lot of advice ^.^ dont be nervous, uni is only as hard as you let it be!! you will be great, can't wait to see what you accomplish in the marine biology field!
You have such an outgoing and sweet personality~ And you're sooo lucky to be a senior in uni! I'm currently a senior in high school, going on to be a uni freshman lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so loving your blog & just followed! Make sure to keep in touch with me <3

tysm!! Do you know what you want to study yet? Whatever it is! I'm sure you'll do great as long as you try and you pace yourself! Don't stress yourself out, and always put your mental health first, that's my advice for incoming undergrad students ^.^ and of course! I'll be sure to comment every now and again :P
